nice things that happened this year

~I started my third(and maybe final??) year of high school

~I dragged any obliging friends and family to four opening movie nights(which was exciting for me since I never used to do that)

~I also saw Singin' in the Rain on the big screen for my birthday and it was awesome

photo creds to my brother

~I went tubing out of state twice-- once in water that could be construed as comfortable and once in water that couldn't be considered warm by any stretch of the imagination

~I started two new blogs, M. M. Johnson aaaand my film blog, Moving Pictures

~I probably set some sort of record for number of culinary calamities

~my family visited Yellowstone and it was beautiful

~I got a Twitter account and don't know how I feel about it yet

~I got my first (non self-employed) first job working in the school district-- first in accounting and now the library

~I made deeper friendships with a number of great people

~I listened to vinyls on my record player and felt very retro

~I started informally studying film and learned a lot about storytelling in general

~I got to pre-read two books shortly before they were released-- This Changes Everything and Cloaked

~I listened to tonnns of podcasts

~I continued reading the Old Testament, through Ezekiel. I also read(/have started) a few theology books that have been pretty influential

I'm thankful for the experiences of 2017 and look forward to what lies after the bend in the road of 2018

What are some of your highlights of 2017?

  1. You went to Yellowstone!!!!! It is amazing!!!!!!!

Happy 2018!! I hope you have an amazing one!!!!

    1. Yeah! I take it you've been there? What was your favorite part? We saw a grizzly bear and her cub and that was pretty cute. :D

      Thank you and you too!

    2. Yes, I've been there a lot. :) How cool that you got to see a grizzly and cub!! Aww. :) My favorite is a place called Artist Paint Pots.

      You're welcome, and thanks!

    3. That's fun! I'd love to go back some time...maybe when it's cooler. Having lived in Alaska most of my life, I was not prepared for the "hot" temperatures! xD

I had to google it to jog my memory, but we did see the Artist Paint Pots while we were there. Very cool!

  2. Sounds like you had a pretty full, fun year!

"I listened to vinyls on my record player and felt very retro." xD Me if I had a record player. xD

Ooh, have you decided whether this will be the last year of school yet?

Yay for seeing movies in theaters! It's always a fun (and rather rare) occurrence, isn't it? :) Ooh, was "Singin' in the Rain" one of those Fathom Events things? Either way, it's neat that you got to see that on the big screen on your birthday. :D

Wow, way to go on your job! That sounds Big.

Highlights of my 2017 . . . well, getting a lot of encouragement and guidance from God about Certain Issues that I've struggled with for a while, graduating high school (!), starting college (!!), reading lots of good books and watching lots of good movies, getting marginally more active on GoodReads, starting another blog, making a vlog (of sorts xD) . . . lots of stuff! :)

    Here's hoping you have a fantastic 2018!! :D

    1. Yeah! It was a good year.

Hopefully! It's the goal and plan to graduate this year, but I may end up doing another year of high school studies despite graduating, or do some high school studies and work at a job more, or something else altogether...we'll see!

Yep! Yes, Singin' in the Rain was one of the old movies my theater shows every week. It was so neat and infinitely cooler than watching my VHS copy. ^.^

It sounds like you've had a nice year of "big" life things but also everyday nice things too(like reading all them books ^.^) so that's great! Wait, what's this about a vlog? ;)

You too! Thanks for your sweet comment!

  3. Sounds like you had a great year! I was thinking of getting a record player... :)
    I hope you have a good 2018!

    1. Oh, you should! I don't think they're super expensive and they're really fun. :D

      You too!

Comments are my favorite, seriously. :D But please do remember to remain respectful and all that.
